General Surgery-Whether minor or major, all surgeries are handled with the utmost respect and concern. Our surgery suites are equipped to support most major surgical procedures, and surgeries are performed within sterile environment. Our professional staff is skilled in most surgical procedures, but on occasion, a specialist referral will be encouraged for procedures outside of our expertise or procedures requiring specialized equipment.
Anesthesia– Modern anesthetic agents provide improved safety, rapid recovery, and excellent pain control. A variety of anesthetic agents are available, and if your pet needs anesthesia, the agent or combination of agents that provide the most safety and effective pain control will be used.
IV Catheter and Fluids – An IV catheter and IV fluids is recommended for your pet while under anesthesia. The IV catheter provides access to a vein for administration of anesthetics and medications and for an IV fluid drip. IV fluids are especially important for procedures with anticipated blood loss or for pets with compromised kidney function. Fluid support is needed for pets that may experience problems with low blood pressure while under anesthesia. Fluids maintain the blood pressure to support the vital organs and minimize the chance of anesthetic reactions or complications.
Radio- Surgery – Radio-surgery works at a higher frequency and lower heat than elecro-caudery. It helps seals blood vessels and nerve endings resulting in less bleeding, pain, and swelling. Some surgeries, such as removal of small tumors or warts, can be done entirely with radio- surgery and do not require sutures (stitches).
Spay / Neuter – You have made the right decision to spay/neuter your pet. Spaying or neutering is one of the most important preventative health measures you can provide for your pet. Spaying/Neutering helps pets lead longer, healthier lives. For females, the risk of ovarian or uterine cancer and of mammary tumors is significantly reduced. Spaying also eliminates heat cycles and their associated problems. Neutered male dogs tend to be less aggressive; the likelihood of testicular and prostate cancer decreases; the urges to “mark” their territory may lessen, and a neutered male is less likely to want to roam in search of potential mates. You are doing the right thing to help eliminate dog/cat overpopulation. Ask about our affordable Spay/Neuter Packages.
